Vegas police: 2 victims dead in related attempted robberies
LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas police say a pair of attempted robberies that each involved a fatal shooting were believed to be related and that two suspects were in custody.
The robberies occurred Friday several hours apart in parking garages at the Fashion Show mall and the Palace Station casino, police said.
In the first incident, a woman was fatally shot during a struggle with a robber during a confrontation at the mall as the woman and her husband got out of a vehicle, police Lt. Valenta said.
The woman’s husband was not injured.
Valenta said the casino shooting victim was a man in his 50s.
Homicide detectives investigating the two fatal shootings determined that two suspects “had entered the parking garages with the intent to commit a robbery. As they were in the process of stealing the property, they shot the victims,” a police statement said.
No identities were released.
Police said a third shooting in which at least one person was wounded at a different mall was not believed to be related to the others and involved an argument of some sort. No identities were released and police said no immediate arrest was made.
