Reuben Foster, 49ers linebacker, charged with three felonies in domestic violence incident

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was charged with three felonies stemming from a February arrest that followed a disturbance call from his California residence, the Santa Clara District Attorney’s office announced.

Foster is charged with domestic violence, forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime and assault weapon possession. Police found a SIG Sauer assault rifle and large-capacity weapon magazine in his home, both of which are illegal in the state.

Officials said the victim was Foster’s live-in girlfriend, and that the 49ers player is accused of dragging her by the hair, throwing her out of the house and punching her in the head repeatedly.

Foster was drafted 31st overall in the first round by the 49ers last year. He fell in the draft from where some people had projected him because he was sent home from the NFL Scouting Combine for arguing with a hospital worker during his medical evaluation. His urine sample from the combine also came back as dilute, which is treated the same as a positive test.
