Autumn carpet of feather cockscomb coats Saitama park
A carpet of feather cockscomb in hues of red, orange and pink has transformed the gentle slopes of the Musashi-Kyuryo National Government Park in Saitama Prefecture north of Tokyo.
Having survived the brutal heat of summer, the flowers are now at their best, drawing hordes of visitors, often accompanied by dogs, to the park that straddles Namekawa and Kumagaya.
The garden features an estimated 800,000 flowers planted in an area covering 8,000 square meters. The colorful striped flower field can be enjoyed until early October.
Feathered cockscomb are noted for their long fluffy heads.
