Tesla Giga Shanghai November Production Numbers Reveal Growth Stabilizing After An Incredible Run

Tesla has been growing vehicle production at an incredible pace. And even more impressively, Tesla is achieving this growth while the entire automotive industry has been forced to cut production due to the worldwide supply disruption.

And the biggest growth center for the EV maker has been Giga Shanghai. Tesla’s China factory, within two and a half years of beginning construction, has already surpassed an annual production run rate of over 500,000 vehicles.

This makes Giga Shanghai Tesla’s biggest production hub surpassing the decade-old Fremont California plant. For instance, this September, Tesla hit a new wholesale record out of Giga Shanghai producing 56,000 vehicles in a single month.

September’s number was a 270 percent growth year over year and 26 percent increase month over month.

However, the rapid growth seems to be stabilizing. According to the wholesale number released by China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla produced 52,859 vehicles in November. Out of the total, 21,127 units were exported to various markets around the world, and the remaining 31,726 vehicles were sold domestically.

November’s numbers show Giga Shanghai production has decreased for the second month in a row. However, the fall in production is only 2.8 percent month over month and year over year November numbers are still up 144 percent.

After the breakneck speed Giga Shanghai has been growing, it’s only logical that production should stabilize at some point. Still, Tesla has filed with Chinese regulators to do expansion work at Giga Shanghai. Once the expansion work is finished, it is expected to bring Giga Shanghai closer to Tesla’s long-term plan of producing 1 million vehicles a year at the plant.

The slight fall in production was a disappointment for Tesla bulls who were hoping Tesla to produce as many as 60,000 vehicles in November. However, the sentiment is mostly that of understanding given all Tesla has achieved in the past year.

Having said that, there is still hope that Tesla will get back to posting record production numbers out of Giga Shanghai in December. We will be sure to keep you posted when December numbers come out. Make sure to visit our site .com/Tesla regularly for the latest updates.
