Why The Hummer EV Is A Waste Of Time

I grew up in a household that lived and died with the GM name. One of my first project cars was a 1954 Chevrolet 210 Coupe with a three-speed manual transmission. Everything about old GM cars is fascinating to me.

As I grew older and eventually gained some knowledge, I began to see the car company for who they are. GM has lost my business, and it is not because they do not build cool cars.

Why The EV Hummer Will Fail
Do you remember the EV1 or maybe the Chevrolet Volt? Have you ever heard of the Tahoe Hybrid or Silverado Hybrid? Perhaps you have heard of the Skateboard?

Why The Hummer EV Is A Waste Of Time

If you have heard of any of these vehicles, you will also know that GM shut them all down. Every one of them is no longer made, and it is sad.

Why The Hummer EV Is A Waste Of Time

GM has a history of trying to be "green," but it is more like they are just trying to comply with regulations placed on automakers. Simply stated, GM does not care about going green or saving the earth; they just do enough to look like they care, then scrap all projects.

This is why I fully believe that GM is only building the EV Hummer is to satisfy a demand that will flitter out once people see how awful it is.

Conclusion
Just like every other Hummer GM has produced, it is enormous, boxy and undoubtedly ugly. We can all thank Bob Lutz for his ridiculous contribution to the world by giving us such nonsense.

GM could easily use the Hummer EV tech and make smaller, more extended range EVs that cost less, but that would not be the GM way, would it?

I believe that the EV Hummer will have small production numbers and only be run for a couple of years. After that, the project will be scrapped.

GM does have a strong initiative to bring forth their own EV revolution. The "Ultium" platform is the old Skateboard idea from the '90s. Maybe they will stay true this time and follow through. Either way I am not holding my breath.

That is all for this one. Remember, today's adventure is tomorrow's story. Have a great one.
